About IEC
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was established in 1906. It is the earliest international electrotechnical standardization organization in the world and is responsible for international standardization work in the fields of electrical engineering and electronic engineering. IEC61215
Since the first release of the "IEC 61215 Series Standards" in 1993, it has become the basic evaluation standard for photovoltaic module design identification and finalization, and its development trends have also attracted much attention in the industry. The current series standards were released in 2016 and are already lagging behind and cannot meet the current needs of the photovoltaic market. Therefore, in response to emerging photovoltaic module technology and testing controversies, IEC has made a series of revisions to the 61215 series of standards, which will be officially released in March 2021.
Standard testing process
The proportion of photovoltaic power generation in global electricity supply is increasing rapidly. High cost pressure and short innovation cycles make the photovoltaic module market dynamic. More efficient and cheaper products are constantly emerging, including solar cells, backsheets and packaging materials. The quality assurance of photovoltaic modules has attracted more and more attention from investors and manufacturers.
