Photovoltaic Module Overseas Market Analysis
We have shared with you the industry development and current status of photovoltaic modules, and also analyzed that there is still a lot of market space for module photovoltaics overseas. In this issue, Millennial Solar will give you a detailed analysis of the markets in Europe, India, and Brazil. According to the current situation, these three regions are also the three largest markets for China’s module exports.
European market
As the most active renewable energy market in the global energy transition, the fossil energy supply crisis caused by the Russia-Ukraine conflict this year has accelerated the energy transition in Europe. On May 18, 2022, the EU Executive Commission announced the REPowerEU energy plan, which plans to reach 320GW of cumulative photovoltaic installed capacity in EU countries in 2025 and 600GW in 2030. It also proposes to gradually make it mandatory for new public and general buildings from 2026. Install rooftop photovoltaics. Stimulated by the energy crisis amid geopolitical conflicts and strong support from government policies, the European market's demand for photovoltaic modules has increased significantly starting from Q2 of 2022. According to CPIA data, my country exported a total of 78.6GW of modules in 2022H1, of which more than half was exported to Europe. Some European countries do not have access to the sea. Due to logistics cost considerations, the Netherlands, with its superior geographical location and highly developed logistics industry, has become the first choice for re-export trade of imported components. In 2022H1, the value of Chinese photovoltaic modules imported by the Netherlands alone accounted for 25.8%, or about 56.8%. One hundred million U.S. dollars. At present, Europe has become the region with the strongest demand for photovoltaic modules in the world outside of China. Considering the high cost of local manufacturing in Europe and the long time it takes to establish a complete supply chain, Europe’s module sources still rely heavily on Chinese imports. In the short and medium term, Europe will still It is expected to be the largest export market for Chinese component manufacturers.
Indian market
Since India will implement the Basic Customs Duty (BCD) tariff bill from April 2022, levying a 40% tariff on imported photovoltaic modules, coupled with the decline in silicon material prices at the end of 2021, the Indian market will begin to import modules from the end of 2021. Due to stockpiling and photovoltaic installation rush, the module import volume in 2022Q1 is already close to the module consumption in the whole of 2021. According to CPIA data, India’s imports of Chinese components in 2022H1 were approximately US$2.55 billion, accounting for 11.6%.
Photostability Chamber
The Photostability Chamber uses a xenon arc lamp that can simulate the full sunlight spectrum to reproduce destructive light waves that exist in different environments, and can provide corresponding environmental simulation and accelerated testing for photovoltaic product development and quality control. It meets the stability test specified in the MQT09 and MQT19 provisions of the IEC61215 standard. The light spot area reaches 2400*8400mm (applicable to 6 2500mm*8400mm components), and the spectrum meets the BBA standard.

Brazilian market
Brazil has sufficient sunshine all year round, with an average annual sunshine time of more than 3,000 hours. It has a large population base, a good industrial foundation, and the overall environment is highly suitable for the construction of photovoltaic projects. The hydropower crisis caused by severe drought in Brazil in 2021 has greatly affected local energy production, and the demand for photovoltaic installed capacity has increased significantly. The newly installed capacity will reach 8.53GW in 2021, +980% year-on-year. In addition, local policies allow photovoltaic system owners to sell back surplus power, so demand for small-scale photovoltaics in Brazil is also growing rapidly. Thanks to the current tax-free policy for imported photovoltaic products, Brazil is China's third largest module export market. In 2022H1, the amount of Chinese modules imported by Brazil reached US$2.44 billion, accounting for 11.1%.
Seeing this, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of the current export areas of my country's photovoltaic modules. We at Millennial Solar have also been committed to providing services and assistance to the global photovoltaic industry and making better development for the photovoltaic industry.
